**Partner Organizations**
The 5K for Mental Health Awareness supports two vital community organizations:
| Organization | Description |
|---|---|
| Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen | Provides daily hot meals in a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free setting, offering stability and community support. |
| CLC Food Pantry | Serves students and their families at Central Lakes College, offering free access to food, fresh produce, and hygiene products in a confidential, respectful environment. |
When we asked participants how running or walking supports their mental health, the most common responses were that it helps clear their minds, reduce anxiety, and bring a sense of calm. “Running is my way of coping with stress and anxiety. It’s a time for me to clear my mind and focus on my breathing.”
β Sarah, age 32
“Walking with my dog has become my daily meditation. It helps me stay present and centered.”
β John, age 41
The 5K for Mental Health Awareness is a powerful reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. By taking action and supporting local resources, we can create a culture that promotes mental wellness and encourages individuals to prioritize their mental well-being.
βWhen we make it okay to talk about our mental wellness and normalize receiving help, we promote a culture that no longer stigmatizes these issues.”
