The state of Alabama is taking a bold step towards promoting mental health awareness this May, as the department of revenue and the department of corrections and revenue has launched a campaign to turn awareness into action.

“I think it’s really exciting we feel that it’s going to be just kinds of a reminder when your drive down the road that mental health matters and that you know what can you do for your loved ones, what is out there that is lacking in your life or someone else’s and I think it is just a simple reminder we need to check on people check on our on mental health and I think it’s just going to look really nice on a car first of all and also in our hearts and minds,” said Malissa Valdes, public information officer, ADMH.

“It will be on your records as paying the distinctive tag fee, which is $50, and when you go the next time, you will receive that Mental Health Matters license plate. We are excited to see this campaign take off and to see the impact it will have on our state’s mental health landscape,” said Valdes.
