Mental Health Services for Youth in the Santa Clarita Valley

The Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, Inc. (SDFHC) has received a significant grant to support the provision of mental health services for youth in the Santa Clarita Valley.

  • Group counseling services for members of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita
  • Expanded school-based mental health program for students in the William S.
    Hart Union High School District
  • The first initiative will provide group counseling sessions to members of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita. These sessions will focus on key areas such as Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Stress Management, Resilience, Peer Relationships and Bullying, and Identity and Self-Esteem. The group sessions will utilize creative activities such as art, role-playing, storytelling, and games to engage participants and foster a safe and supportive environment for emotional expression. โ€œWe know that social and emotional intelligence are critical to the success and well-being of young people,โ€ said Philip Solomon, Chief Executive Officer of Samuel Dixon Family Health Center. โ€œThis grant will allow us to provide a consistent network of support for underprivileged youth, helping them grow in their resilience and build strong, healthy relationships.โ€

Increasing Access to Mental Health Services in Schools

In addition to the group counseling program, the grant will expand SDFHCโ€™s school-based mental health program. The additional funding will allow SDFHC to hire another Behavioral Health Counselor who will provide on-site psychotherapy services at local junior high schools three days per week. โ€œImproving mental health resources in our schools is vital for ensuring that students can succeed both in the classroom and in life,โ€ said Amanda Hills, Director of Behavioral Services of Samuel Dixon Family Health Center. โ€œWe are excited to expand our reach to students in our school district and to provide critical mental health services to youth in our community.โ€

Supporting the Emotional Well-being of Santa Clarita Youth

Through these initiatives, SDFHC is committed to supporting the emotional well-being of Santa Clarita youth. The organization aims to provide them with the tools they need to navigate lifeโ€™s challenges and grow into resilient, confident individuals.
